Paved driveways give rainwater nowhere to go but sewers. Along the way, runoff picks up harmful substances (oils, metals, road salt), which harm water quality. A permeable grass or gravel driveway changes that. “They keep rainwater where it’s supposed to be—in the ground,” says Craig Marshall, owner of Marshall Homes in Pickering, Ont. “Plus they look great.” Here, three attractive pavers for a porous driveway:
